happy INDEPENDENCE day

Independence doesn’t mean not living in relationship with one another. It means not being in servitude. Wage slavery is a form of servitude. Being afraid to lose your job because of health insurance is servitude. Working 60 hours a week and still not owning anything is servitude. People get mad at me when I say this, but it is worse than slavery. You might say that no one owns you, that no one can sell you, but suddenly find yourself without that wage and see, without that relied upon monthly income and see. The dependence that we have on petroleum, on machinery, is servitude because you can’t eat and you can’t stay warm without it (or you think you can't).

More important than being willing to die for our freedom, we must be willing to LIVE free. Now.

Life. Liberty. The pursuit of happiness.

And always remember that it was the Over Mountain Men who really won independence for the US.

I get it, and I completely agree with you. I hear people talking about how much they hate their jobs (in fact, I had this conversation with a friend just today), but keep working, because they believe they have to. I said I thought it was sad, and my husband said, "Well, they have to pay the bills."

you can’t eat and you can’t stay warm without it (or you think you can't).

I think this is an important point. When we're forced to change our habits, there's a lot we realize we are able to do, but it's the unwillingness to give up our lifestyles that make us believe we can't rather than the truth, which is, simply, we won't.

More's the pity.

Amen. I think that you and Wendy are so right, though I find myself often saying that exact thing:

"I hate my job, BUT...."

I gotta work on that.

I'm digging the cupcakes. I can easily discern what's the blue (blueberries), but what did you use for the red stripes? Inquiring minds want to know.

p.s. did you get that email I sent not long ago? I thought it unusual that you didn't respond - unless of course you didn't have anything NICE to say, in which case I would fully expect you to respond anyways.

;)

ummm, I must not have gotten the e-mail tf . . . I'll go search because things DO slip my mind but maybe you could send it again?

The strips are fruit leather. Commercial because it isn't something we usually make although we do know how . . . :-)

Over on Pockets of the Future, Leslie has a thing about happy INNER dependence day, which I like.

Re-sent from my colliergov.net mailing address, to your yahoo domain address, cg. Maybe you automatically delete things that involve ".gov" - and I wouldn't blmae you a bit!
