Stove Wood
This is what husband has been doing a lot of. He gathers dead wood from the forests around us, usually cutting it into about 4' lengths (fits truck, saws up to stove length). He goes to the mountain armed with a bowsaw and comes back with this. We cut this to stove length, some of which you can see in the top left of the photo, again with bowsaws. We don't neccessarily work very far ahead of use -- some, enough to get through rainy days or a short sickness, but we don't cut the whole winter's wood in the summer. We usually don't cut ANY wood in the summer! We're too busy otherwise. Everything in its season.
