8 Things Meme
I was tagged by Ren, so here goes.
~~~Each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed. At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.~~~
Having done the 100 random things meme, which was a lot of fun actually, I was at a loss on this one. Eight more things? Which eight? I started thinking about 8 secret things, or 8 desires. Then I started thinking about the number eight, infinity stood on its end, tarot card of strength, the number of Beatitudes -- but then again, none of the even numbers are easy. And then I started thinking of the people I would tag. That was the kicker.
1) I have a lot of approach/avoidance issues. When I was doing a lot of human interaction training stuff, I got tagged a lot for rising up, saying something hard to say, then withdrawing. It is true, which is why it is an observation about me that I haven't forgotten.
2) I have a fantasy of going to a beach house by myself but with a computer (no internet) so I could just write for awhile. I don't know if I could or not. And enough money to eat a lot of seafood.
3) I learned to drive on an old green Chevy pick up truck with three on the column. What a great ride. First time I had her out alone, I couldn't get it in first after having to stop at the one lane bridge going into riverview and must have killed it 10 times in third gear before I thought, just put it in second and go! Which did work.
4) My first pony was named Sugar. My second, Betsy. She raised me. My plastic one is Blaze. Dusty was a beautiful palomino, but just a grouch of a personality. When I sold him (when I left home), I heard he broke the guy's leg and never got ridden again. Lucky was a sweetheart who loved to be ridden. My current horse thinks I'm crazy when I ride him, but put the collar and harness on him and he's a happy guy.
5) I was friends in college with a Japanese student named Tadashi Hori. That name must be like John Smith in the US.
6) I went to the library today and checked out two books with "econ" in the title. I think I'm too serious.
7) I'm one of those "I'm for Fred Thompson and he hasn't even announced" people. If he's for the fairtax, I'm really for him. There's a Tennesseean Tennesseans could vote for!
8) And staying with politics, I remember Henry Howell. I worked the polls for Henry Howell. I remember Henry Howell taking the phone company to court because they charged 20 cents for a pay phone call, but didn't give change for a quarter. That was also back where there was A phone company. What an argument for a free market that is. Henry died 10 years ago, but I will always remember Henry Howell.
Bonus story: on the campaign trail, Henry said: "I sleep well at night. Like a baby. You know why I sleep so well? On my way home, I stop by the Piggly Wiggly and get me some angel food cake and a Coalfield Progress newspaper. When I get home I eat that angel food cake and I read that Coalfield Progress. I go to bed and sleep like a baby because I got nothing on my stomach and nothing on my mind!"
I tag these people who desperately need to blog!: Laura, Parrothead, Wondersoul & MadCap. I further declare that each of these people, because of their low blogging rate, count as two. I also count them as two because I'm not sure I know 8 real people who blog. And I don't see some people doing memes, ya know?
Okay, okay, I'll write something! Eight whole things? Gosh... eight whole things...
I'm glad you played!:)
I have the same fantasy about writing...only mine is a cabin in the woods. I think that's from living in P'cola for 8 years and having avoidance issues with hurricanes. ha!
I'd take a laptop and some journals and write my heart out. As long as there are tea and truffles, I'll be ok.
damn it.....i was doing so well in my cozy little no blogging cave. well, it was getting kinda dark in there anyway, i needed to come out eventually. okay, so i'll do your meme, and i'll try to blog more. but i have lost interest in all things internet lately...so this is a big deal you're getting here!!
Hey baby, I DO hugely appreciate it! Let your little light shine! And I double dog dare you to do the 100 things meme -- it is very interesting to sit down and see what 100 things about yourself you can actually think of. Even if you don't post it.
