The White Stuff

I might have hoped for a girl. We'll have to decide whether to leave him intact or not. He's so cute with the blue eyes and everything.

I would hope to begin confining him for the night in about 10 days, milking her in the morning and letting them run together during the day. That's my favorite milk management technique with babies. Babies NEED mommas! And goats should be goats.

As you can see, it is a BEAUTIFUL day. Hooray!

Ooooh he is so beautiful. So pretty and white. I keep going back on forth on getting a goat. i have really terrible wrists thanks to years of doing jobs that require typing and i am afraid i won't have the strength to do the milking

No one has the strength to do anything that they don't do.

Milking isn't so much about strength as technique and endurance. And the tenacity to get out there and do it every day.

I figure everything that a body "can't" do is something they don't really want to do.

Its the whole squeezing and pulling thing that worries me. I can't even open a jar of mayo without help. I would hate to buy a goat and then not be able to milk it. There is a lady on the other side of the mountain that has a bunch of goats. maybe I will ask her if I could try milking one of hers and see if I can do it first.
